As vernal colors ebb to tasteless trance,
they paint pale songs on silvered glass of time,
she sees them orchestrate wild rain to dance
in fluid loops, nirvana cries sublime.
The idle rills flow full with pastel love,
cold crests breathe secrets in the satin air
in black, the skies long wrote her fate above-
eyes limpid stare, forgetting twinkle fair.
But know in their warm shadows Aegle treads
from their slow fading glow, of life She drinks
for her, they wash all morns with crimson reds
and pollen tawny tint of amber pinks.
Of fallen petals: they have left their sign
she’ll blossom fresh, their promises enshrine.
(English/Shakespearean sonnet; rhyming scheme abab cdcd efef gg; iambic pentameter)
1. Aegle: In Greek mythology, goddess of radiant good health

This is beautiful
Thank you, Danny!!
Well you’ve taught me something here Mohana – I’d never heard of Aegle ’til I read this. Thank you.
How wonderfully this poem reflects the majesty of the natural world all around us.
Melancholic and beautiful!!!
All the very best from Pune team 🙂
Thank you!! All the best to you too 🙂
Superb. I loved these lines most
“in black, the skies long wrote her fate above-
eyes limpid stare, forgetting twinkle fair.”
All the best KKR
Nice poem..ATB 🙂
There is just one word which can describe this beauty…magical!
Exquisite. The sonnet moves beautifully towards the final line..Nature is silent perhaps dumb to see its own element of blossom-power! A winning piece…
All the best, Mohona.
Thank you so much, Panchali di! 🙂
The imagery in a line with ten syllables is never an easy job. And to go on at the same pace with dense imagery line after line calls for an applause! 🙂
Thank you!!
I am not much of a poetry reader, but that really sounded wonderful!
Good luck from the Delhi team!
Superb
You’ve painted a visual treat here…………loved it completely! Good luck, though, you don’t need it with this firebrand 🙂
Thank you!! 🙂
Good luck to you too.
haha. I know how this sonnet grew. 😀
Haha! This was a lot less hard work than the first one though 😛
Good to see you writing again here. Love your way with words.
Good to hear from you, Renee!!! Hope you are fine.
this is beautiful.. Glad I stopped by!
I love this sonnet.. a journey from spring, to monsoon, to winter’s chill and warm shadows.. and then an expectancy to welcome spring once again. Beautifully written, Mohana.
“Of fallen petals: they have left their sign
she’ll blossom fresh, their promises enshrine.”
This gives me a sense of hope, love and tenderness. Beautiful.
Mohana, this is an elegant, flawlessly written sonnet. Wonderful!
WOW! This was so so beautiful. It’s been a while since I read such an amazing sonnet.
Thank you!
What a challenge this must have been, and in every way it was uber groovy. If can not imagine this not winning the battle into which it entered. Peace.
B-e-a-utiful!!
